Consist of: letters to Rose from "Dad" and "Mom"; discussion of transferring to War Department and oversupply of ex-servicemen and their wives if war ends soon; review of past rent figures (1932-1935): inside toilet and sewer connections raised it from $15 to $16 per month, compares rent of 1935-1941, asks for increase to $20 per month-regarding house at 18th Ave. So.; expressions on death of grandfather (Christine's?); birthday present is lost in the mail, as Rose never received it; Henry receives induction papers for the war, yet he isn't worried, as he thinks the war will be over soon; discussion of rationing of one pound of sugar for one person once in two weeks; FDR signed a bill giving 10% raise to service employees, but cutting back on half day payment for work on Saturday; houses previously bought for $1100, now sold at $2500; application for Ration Book No. 3 received; Rose's father has somewhat negative views throughout on college education/night classes. He advises her "not to over do it when the jobs are plentiful."
